The structural theory assumes that there is order and interdependence of all the parts involved as we can see in the family of Ralph and Alice where Ralph works in a construction to provide for the family, Alice works in the house by cleaning and preparing meals and also rearing children this helps the family to function smoothly since there is cooperation and orderliness in the family. The family works to self-maintaining order where the husband and the wife are working to bring up the children and everybody is doing the required duties; this leads to smooth functioning of the society. The theory also assumes that the systems are either static or have ordered process of change, as in the family Ralph is static while Alice is slowly adopting change. The function of one part affects the function of another part for example what Ralph does affects Alice. The theory also assumes the division of labor which brings about balance in the whole system, for instance the husband works and provides for the family while the wife takes care of the house work and children rearing; this has promoted the smooth running of the family.
